An ITN news bulletin broadcast by Southern Television on 26 November 1977 was interrupted by the slow, deep voice of "Asteron from the Intergalactic Mission", accompanied by an eerie booming sound. "All your weapons of evil must be destroyed," it said. "You only have a short time to learn to live together in peace... or leave the galaxy." Presumably a prank, although no one was ever caught.
